This December 3rd is #GivingTuesday, the day after Cyber Monday and Black Friday weekend. With BSA’s long standing record of helping shape character and citizenship in America’s youth, we are a natural choice for your heart’s gift. With your help we will continue our record of service by helping Scouts become the leaders of the future.

What Is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday is a world-wide day of giving fueled through social media and teamwork with other causes like Scouting. Each year since 2012, it has been observed on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.). It is the calm after the shopping frenzies of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when many of us can finally stop and focus on giving back to others.

How Your Support Helps Scouting

Investing in Scouting creates opportunities for youth to gain memorable experiences at camp and at other Scouting activities. There, youth experience the values, principles, and skills that will help them develop into the future leaders of our community and the world. By contributing to Scouting, you will have a profound impact on our nation, allowing more youth the chance to experience our programs and instilling in them higher values and character.

Support provided to local councils is used for camp scholarships, program supplies for youth activities, volunteer training, and camp maintenance. You might consider joining with other Keepers of the Flame, or discover your company offers matching gifts. These opportunities will have long lasting effect on our youth services and programs.

Share Your #unselfie(ish) Behavior

Once you’ve given, don’t keep it to yourself. Post a picture of yourself on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtags #unselfie and #GivingTuesday. You can use this UNselfie Template(PDF) when you’re ready to share.

With that, you’ve joined the #unselfie revolution and you will be telling others what you’ve done to inspire them to do the same. After all #GivingTuesday is a social media event you should be part of!

How Your Gifts Help

As a nonprofit organization, the Boy Scouts of America relies on the generosity of charitable donations to support its ongoing operations and future capital expenses. Each gift, regardless of size, provides valuable funding for BSA programs that benefit Scouts all across the southern two-thirds of our state. Best of all, giving local means your dollars stay local, serving the youth of our intermountain communities.

Where will your heart be on this #GivingTuesday?
