VenturingFest 2018: Summer As it Should be


Summer can be an unforgettable time of year or an excruciatingly boring time of year. You always talk about planning your next adventure but never get around to it. Suddenly, you realize it’s July and you haven’t done anything remotely enjoyable. 2018 is the year for you to change that.

Picture this: you’re zip-lining through the treetops under the azure sky. After that, you and your friends saddle up your mountain bikes and go riding along the beautiful West Virginia trails. You finish your day paddle boarding along majestic lakes. How is this possible? VenturingFest 2018.

VenturingFest is more than just a group of fun activities for you to participate in. VenturingFest is an escape from the monotony of life. It’s a chance for you to have that memorable summer you have always wanted.

And next year’s VenturingFest will be extra special. Next year’s event will feature the 20-year celebration of Venturing. Come join the party and take a look back at the rich history that Venturing has provided boys and girls since 1998.

Venturingfest will take place on July 1-6, 2018 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Other festivities will include music from live bands and delicious food.

Registration Requirements

To register you must be one of the following:

  • Registered Venturer
  • Registered Boy Scout age 14 (or 13 and have completed the 8th grade)
  • Registered Adult Leader
  • Registered Varsity Scout
  • Registered Sea Scout

Additionally, all participants must:
– Completeparts A, B, C of the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record

– Complete Summit Bechtel Reserve Risk Acknowledgement (and Whitewater waiver for rafting excursions)
– Weigh between 50 and 250 lbs to participate in aerial sporting activities
– Pass a BSA swimmer test for all aquatic activities

Registration Costs

Youth can register today for $500. (Costs are individual and will be $600 after April 30, 2018)

Adults can register today for $400. (Costs are individual and will be $500 after April 30, 2018)

Scouts must make a non-refundable deposit during registration. Units can make a reservation for $500, or individuals can make a personal reservation for $100.

Fees include meals (Sunday dinner through Friday breakfast), campsite (w/tents, showers, dining flies, tables & Wi-Fi), and all program equipment, with exception of the optional ½-day whitewater rafting trip. (Fee for this is TBD).
